![]() ![]() ![]() Entering his ninth season in the league, Crowder, 30, will need to have a solid preseason campaign to beat out Shepard or Beasley for a spot on the roster. Beasley is as dependable as they come and has been making a strong case for a roster spot this summer.Ĭrowder on the other hand has not stood out to the same degree as Shepard and Beasley. The 34-year-old is entering his 13th season in the league, amassing 5,744 receiving yards throughout his career. He has looked sharp throughout training camp but still has some competition ahead of him if he wants to be back on New York’s regular season roster for the eighth season in a row.īeasley, another established veteran, has also been impressive during training camp. Shepard, the Giants’ longest-tenured player, is back on the field following a season-ending ACL tear in Week 3 of the 2022 regular season. WRs Sterling Shepard, Cole Beasley, and Jamison Crowder are the three veterans of the group that will be competing to make the final roster. New York added a few veteran slot receivers this offseason, creating a position battle to keep watch over during the preseason. Of those 13 receivers, at least seven of them play primarily in the slot. The Giants currently have 13 wide receivers on their roster heading into the first preseason game. Which veteran slot receiver will prevail? But if he continues to struggle, Holmes could become a cap casualty, paving the way for Flott to take over with the starters. If he plays well throughout the preseason, Holmes could maintain his status with the first team. Holmes has seemingly struggled throughout training camp, however, he has been Big Blue’s primary nickel corner for the last several seasons. On the first unofficial depth chart, Holmes was listed as the first-team nickel corner. With no clear-cut starter at the slot cornerback position, Darnay Holmes and Cor’Dale Flott (and Aaron Robinson once he is healthy) are competing for the first-team role. This game is likely to go down to the wire, but we'll side with the slight favorites to get the win in this one.įinal Tri-State-Enemies Prediction & Pick: Enemies -2.Darnay Holmes: From first-team to the waiver wire?Īn “ open competition” has been taking place in New York’s defense this summer. However, Tri-State won't go down easy and it's guaranteed that Jason Richardson will be doing everything in his power to keep their playoff hopes alive. Expect the Enemies to get out to an early lead here as the favorites. This is going to be an extremely fun game highlighted by the shooting of both teams. Final Tri-State-Enemies Prediction & Pick The Enemies are the bigger team down low so they should look to use that to their advantage. They'll need to stand tall in the defensive paint as Tri-State drives to the hoop. Isaiah Austin has been a menace rebounding the ball for them, so look for him to kick it out quickly as they try to free some shooters up. The Enemies could win this game with their rebounding down low. The Enemies should look to use their speed advantage and work the ball around the arc. It may take a different approach in this game to find success as Tri-State typically plays solid defense. Still, they continue to be one of the sharpest shooting teams in the league and realize that they can cut deficits in a hurry if their shots are falling. The Enemies have been living by the three, and last game they unfortunately died by the three.
