For some reason, however, Paul was usually excluded from any group activities despite regularly hanging out with them. Carla, in particular, could be very unfriendly. The Cheers bar can be hostile to people who weren't established regulars. While he usually sat down beside the duo, he was often ignored. Like Norm Peterson and Cliff Clavin, he was a regular patron at Sam's pub. Played by Paul Wilson, Paul Krapence was the most prominent minor character in Cheers. Luckily, its offshoot exceeded high expectations, becoming a critically-acclaimed comedy, which also ran for 11 seasons. By the time Frasier started, Cheers was already regarded as one of the best sitcoms of all time. This marked his reunion with his remaining family - father, Martin, and brother, Niles. The spin-off featured its titular character returning home to begin a new life as a radio psychiatrist. Just a year after Cheers ended, Frasier debuted on NBC. Frasier was so beloved, NBC awarded him his own show. He even stuck around even after Diane left her waitressing gig at the eponymous pub and stayed until the sitcom wrapped up in 1993. Thanks to his chemistry with the rest of the Cheers ensemble, he eventually became a show regular. Originally Diane Chambers' rebound boyfriend following her breakup with former baseball-star-turned-bar-owner Sam Malone, Frasier was supposedly only going to be a guest star. Before Kelsey Grammer spearheaded his own show based in Seattle, he was first introduced in the Boston-set Cheers. ![]() Aside from sharing a major character, Frasier and Cheers also shared several minor players. ![]()
